A growing global phenomenon is surging above the horizon. The world of electric vehicle racing has swept over the globe and has taken the race fans by storm.
So, what is electric vehicle racing?
EV racing consists of racing electric powered vehicles in all-electric motorsports series, (or in open-powertrain series.) Although electric vehicles have always sprinkled their way through the history of motorsports, their combustion-engine counterparts seemed to always find a way to outperform or outshine them. With the rising popularity of electric vehicles and EV technology around the world, it is no surprise to see more and more electric-only racing series sprout up in all corners of the world.
Did you know the first road vehicle to go over 62 mph was a Belgian electric vehicle named La Jamais Contente, equipped with a light alloy torpedo-shaped body and batteries. The shiny rocket on wheels was driven by Camille Jenatzy, who was known for breaking the land speed record three times and being the first man to break the 100 km/h (62 mph) barrier.
